BILJA is a project that was initiated by Antonija and Matija Babić back in 2018 while studying architecture. The project started from their desire to create their own notebooks and has become a platform for experimenting with paper as a creative medium.
The form of the first Bilja notebook collection took as its theme three characteristic types of soil in Croatia. Inspired by diverse influences, it primarily emphasizes the richness and diversity of the relatively small area of Croatia. The very motif of the soil land, which is loaded with multiple meanings, further deepens the idea. The notebooks are produced locally and by hand in Croatia in small editions with environmentally conscious materials.
